Pastor Jon Wilkes, Senior Pastor

Growing up in Akron, Ohio I had attended church since I was 3 weeks old. At the age of 8, I realized that my parents faith wasn´t going to save me, it had to be personal between Jesus and me. That was when I made the greatest decision of my life and asked Him to forgive my sins and save me. Through high school I never strayed from the church, but I did stray in my relationship with Christ. Things became routine and stale, and I began to search for what I wanted out of life. Making life-altering decisions in my senior year I joined the Marine Corps in hope of getting an education so I could make a lot of money. A month before my deployment God began to work in my heart and I realized these were my plans not His plans. God moved in a miraculous way and 2 months later I was taking classes at Landmark Baptist College, in Haines City Florida.

It was at college that I met and fell in love with Cindy, the second greatest decision of my life. We were married 4 days after I graduated, marking the beginning of over a quarter of a century of love and ministry. After 13 years of serving in four different churches in Florida, Ohio, and Mi., God led us to Northville. On February 14th, 1999, I became the interim Pastor here at First Baptist, and then voted in as Senior Pastor in June of 1999. My passion has been the family these last 15 years. Having 2 young adult children and 2 children in Jr. high, I see incredible needs in this generation. There is an attack on the family today such as never before. If families are fragmented and hurting, the church will not be effective in our mission to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We want to minister to the entire family so we have age-graded opportunities for everyone to learn and grow. We also have family activities designed to bring the family together through fellowships, picnics, campouts, outings, and concerts. We have special quarterly worship services designed with the family in mind. We want to help parents and give them the tools to make great homes.

My second passion is the community. We want to be intricately involved in Northville and the surrounding area. We collect items for the Community Foundation, participate in the Taste of Northville, 4th of July parade, Victorian Festival, downtown Halloween event and other community wide events. We have been of this city since 1833, and in this location since 1840 and we want the community to know that we are here to minister to them.

We would love to meet you and get to know you, and minister to you and your family.

God Bless you,
